The Spanish American War, described by Theodore Roosevelt as a Splendid little struggle was one of the low conflicts that was fought on a global scale, in fact the struggle mingled with Spain and its allies against The United States of America took place in Cuba, the Philippines, Guam and Puerto Rico. The war was a result of prolonged tensions between the Spanish occupants of Cuba and the Cubans themselves which were stock for independence long before the U.S had any interactions with both the Cubans and Spaniards. Their first attempt in gaining national freedom was called the Ten geezerhood War and ended with the pact of Zanjon which did not mitigate nor curtail the desire for freedom most Cubans shared. Not long by and by The Ten Years War, others tried to free Cuba from its occupants, their tactic aimed at fueling a revolution in every major Cuban city. The plan was nicely studied and executed; alas it didnt receive the needed support from the population and resulted in an unorganized guerilla fighting on behalf of Cuban revolutionaries.



Spanish reaction to insurgence was merciless: they captured and isolated anyone they thought susceptibility be a rebel in concentration camps and they move entire Cuban districts which they thought might be give weaponry and goods to rebels to reconcentration camps near Spanish military headquarters.
