Religion has helped lead peoples lives tout ensemble throughout time. People use it to distinguish between what is cover or wrong. It has given hope and has been used to discriminate against and turn out people. In Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, Linda uses religious belief and her faith to help her through the hardships and cruelties the world is putting her through. Without this immobile emotional connection to God, Linda may not have had the dexterity to perceiver and to eventually gain her life back as a free black woman. There were times when her get the hang used her Christianity to manipulate her but in the end Lindas faith remained with her in a positive manner.
In the get-go of the book, Linda blames god for the misfortunes that she has had. She no longer has her mother, her father, or her closest agonist and because of this she says, my heart rebelled against God(pg 6). But she unruffled has her grandmother on that point to tell her that nobody knows the way god works and that they should still trust him and have full faith in him. Because Linda is taught from a very early age to always believe in her faith, it sticks with her throughout the entirety of her life. As of this early stage, her faith is providing her with a reasonable answer to why these things are happening to her.



As the book goes on, that cushion she uses religion as progressively turns into a spring of a motivation. In a way, these losses and her damage is the cause of her motivation because without this resistance that society provides for her, she may neer have had the ability nor the push to rise up and passage of arms against society like she did.
Towards the middle of the book, now that Linda has matured into a grown woman and has a child of her own, religion increases its manipulation in the story. In Chapter 13, Linda as at church as the congregation strike up a powerful sing and she mentions, Precious are such moments to the poor slaves.
