In 1823, the Monroe Doctrine was put option into place to keep European nations from claiming land as their own, and to overly help the US stay in control of whole states. When Fidel Castro took over power of Cuba in 1959, he Aligned with the Soviet Union, this started to cause not only fear, but tension inside the American population considering the Cuba is very close to the tip of Florida. In 1960 Castro decided to make a trading agreement with Russia. This gave Americans a reason to be even more timid, so they stop trading with Cuba. To re- procedure, Cuba nationalized all US assets which assisted in Kennedys decision making to back up the CIA plan to overflow Cuba. This plan was an epic fail, making Kennedy look like an amazement to the US. A little over a year subsequent Castro thought the US was going to attempt to invade Cuba for a second time, so he sent his brother to bespeak for help from the USSR, who promised to give weapons to defend Cuba against America. Soviets then asked to place 60 ballistic missiles with nuclear warheads in Cuba.



This was automatically a violation of the Monroe Doctrine (which nobody tried to enforce.)It was then that the fatal 13 days of the Cuban Missile Crises began.
